(ΠΡΟΘΕΣΕΙΣ)

ΤΙΜΕ

at +  time  of  the  day: eg. at  5  o’clock

                            at  lunchtime

on +  days and  dates: eg. on Christmas Day

                                          on Friday

in +  longer  periods(months,years etc.)

                                    eg. in 1966

                                          in (the) winter

at night,at the weekend/at weekends,at Christmas/at Easter (but on Christmas Day),at the moment/at present/at the same time

We say:in the morning(s),in the afternoon(s),in the evening(s) BUT on Friday morning(s), on Sunday afternoon(s), on Monday evening(s) etc.

On time: Ακριβώς,χωρίς καθυστέρηση.Αν σε μία πρόταση υπάρχει η έκφραση “on time”,σημαίνει ότι κάτι έγινε ακριβώς την ώρα που είχε προγραμματιστεί.

In time: Σύντομα, εγκαίρως.

Το αντίθετο του “on time”είναι “late” και του “in time” είναι “too late”.

At the end: Στο σημείο που κάτι τελειώνει.

In the end: Τελικά.Χρησιμοποιείται αυτή η φράση για να μιλήσουμε για τα τελικά αποτελέσματα μιας κατάστασης.Το αντίθετο του “at the end” είναι “at the beginning” και του “in the end”είναι “at first”.

Λέμε  by car   BUT    in  my  car

          by train  BUT    on the train

Η πρόθεση by χρησιμοποιείται  και με την έννοια “next to”(=δίπλα σε) αλλά και χρονικά έχοντας  την έννοια «κατά τη διάρκεια».
